Yh I heard about this. Think it takes effect in 2011. It's retarded that they would do that. In the end it will just cause the state to lose more money as people go to other states to buy it etc (there is some particular ammo that you won't even be allowed to buy I believe).

Fucking pussies in California. There's people getting shot and shanked by mexicans in LA and they're still taking their guns away. It was bad enough they were turning down all of their CWP applications. My buddy moved out to LA. Why? Probably because he's a moron and he likes weed, but he heard gun shots one night a couple streets over, then silence, and no sirens ever came.

It's California's answer to MicroID not making any headway yet. Too bad fingerprinting ammo sales won't tell them where a shellcasing was bought so they can track anything.
What this effectively does is prevent out of state mailorder/internet ammo dealers from selling to California. The cost of fingerprinting equipment that meets state approval will make ammo prices double in a state already plagued with high taxes.
Soon you'll see ammo shops set up just across the Nevada state line, much how you see a ton of gas stations and smoke shops right as you enter states with low gas & cigarette taxes. Hell, you drive into Georgia from Florida and you see plenty already. Back in the 90's when prices were going up I remember us organizing border runs to Georgia for gas, cigs, and a Powerball ticket. lol
