This section looked pretty dead with that "NEVER" label in the last-post section.

If anyone is interested, Bushido Tactical teaches a Specialized Urban Survival Course. I took the first SUSR course he offered, and it was really good.

Wade will hate me for this analogy, but I found that it was like a cross between a Boy Scout outing (with guns) and SERE school (without the beatings).

There were valuable lessons on personal preparedness, including day/night navigation, water purification, food prep, shelters, emergency fire-starting, trauma care and casualty movement under hostile conditions, and more.

You won't get much sleep, food, or water, so it's interesting to see how your concentration and tolerance begins to fade as the days go by.

Sounds like fun. I'm assuming there are pre-requisites such as taking a carbine course of something with them?

I don't think so. While there is shooting, that is not the primary focus.

So you're paying to go on an FTX? Where is this course staged at? Nights like tonight would be perfect, it's around 40F right now with the wind chill. =)

LOL...that's one way of looking at it....except this FTX is voluntary. The one I attended was last Nov in St. Aug...and it was a tit bit nipply. I'm not sure where the next one is going to be.

that sounds great. we're coming into my favorite time of year in FL. I suffer 10 months out of the year in anticipation of the chance of cooler weather.

This was one of Wade's classes that I was upset missing last year. If damn work and family didn't have to get in the way.... lol

Now, I was wondering Ben..... Do you try to survive off of the basics in a BOB, or do you pack a framed backpack with all your hiking/camping essentials?

I don't want to ruin any surprises Wade has in store for his victims...I mean students...but you start out with a a happy little well-stocked BOB, and very quickly find yourself with much less :bolt:

As far as I know, a BOB is really only a 1-2 days immediate supply to give you what you need to get you to your actual 5-day pack or rally point. After that I would imagine the course teaches you what you need in your 5DP for prolonged survival on your own. But I could be wrong about what this course will force you to realize.

And I'm the same way Ben, I love the 10 weeks of cool weather in Florida. Just sucks that 10 months are in between.

I will posting the next class details today on the forums and the class will be held at Manatee Gun Club, Sarasota Florida on November 14 - 15, beginning the evening of the 13th.

As much as it is very informative and fun, it is definitely physically and mentally challenging. Both instructors will be doing everything with the students as we like to be involved and training along side our students.

If anyone is interested, I need to have all registrations in by no later than October 28th to make this class a go. I will only be accepting 8 - 12 students max for this class.

Please visit the website for the schedule and more information about this class.

Equipment list and course instructions will only be emailed to registered students as this is based on a SERE type school.

Only pre-requisites for this class is to be able to carry your own gear and be safe with a firearm, No Sniveling allowed.

I hope that some of you can make it, I have one student re-doing this course as a refresher as he enjoyed so much the first time.

Please feel free to contact me with questions about the course, I will do my best to answer them without giving away anything about the course. There are lots of surprises in store during this course.

Thanks for posting about the class Ben and for not giving away much about the class, much appreciated.

I know all of the past students said that they preferred not knowing what to expect in the class than knowing before hand. This made it more interesting and challenging to all who attended the class.

Hope you can make the next one, we have a lot more room for the scenario based exercises.

I can't make the next one, brother. I'm still recovering from the last one...waking up at 3 AM in a cold sweat, curled up in the fetal position, yelling my name, rank, and serial number, while sucking my thumb.

When is the SWSR course: Specialized Wilderness Survival Readiness, aka Deliverance course?

When is the SWSR course: Specialized Wilderness Survival Readiness, aka Deliverance course?

We are in the process of trying to put together a Level 2 SWSR course - as you said, all about the wilderness and hitting the hills of GA or AR.

I have 4 people waiting for that to come about. Obviously Level 1 will be a pre-requisite as this will make life easier for yourself in Level 2.

Will let you know when I have the final details for that course next year.
