Well a few months ago I purchased one of these GSG-5's for a plinker for the wife.
She doesn't like it so by default its mine.
I have issues leaving guns stock so I plan on working over this gun with all the accesories available and keeping a pic record of the build so anyone else getting involved with one has a reference.

These guns are getting scarce with extremely limited availability out there and accessories are no exception.
Today I purchased a collapsible stock which will be installed and reviewed in the next post.
I also have ordered a claw mount scope base and am currently trying to figure out what optic to go with.
A quad rail, a laser and light are also in the works.
So without futher delay lets move on to the stock install.

The Original Firearm and the new stock

First we have removal of the factory fixed stock
This is held on by a single threaded pin and a retention bolt.
Both are straight slot
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p225/chrisbean109/IMG_1084.jpg
Once the retention bolt is out you must push the threaded pin out the opposite way. A punch or dowel can be used for this, be careful what tool you use you DO NOT WANT TO DAMAGE this part, it must be reused.

Pull the original stock to the rear, this may require some force
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p225/chrisbean109/IMG_1087.jpg

Next insert the rails to the reciever to check for fit, be cautious not to damage or scratch your reciever
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p225/chrisbean109/IMG_1088.jpg

Here you can see the proper fitment and move forward with the mounting of the stock
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p225/chrisbean109/IMG_1091.jpg

Next push the mounting cap flush with the reciever until you can see the pin hole fully
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p225/chrisbean109/IMG_1093.jpg

Insert the pin into the stock/reciever

Tighten bolt
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p225/chrisbean109/IMG_1095.jpg

At this point you would check for function.
I happened to be unlucky enough to get a stock that the locking/release spring had come loose from the dog ears in the butt plate. I had to completely dissassemble the stock and reattach the spring to the ear to create the tension for the stock to collapse and lock. This hopefully is a rare occurance.

Now to review.
I had a QC issue from the start when I opened up this stock, easily repairable but if someone wasnt mechanically inclined could cause alot of frustration and most likely a return.
The stock functions properly with the repair I made. Locks positively and feels secure.
The locking ears are plastic butting to a metal rail, this will wear and eventually cause failure. How long it lasts is to be determined.
These stocks have been catching 50 to 85 dollars on the street lately. I dont personally feel the quality is up to the price point but it certainly is aestetically pleasing. On the next accessory install I will comment on the durability of this part.
