was he that bad?? I thought they were ok, given the level of drama she brought to the table.

I thought the guy was OK, just didnt like the fact that they found a man with no wife living in a trailer with his son who wanted to quit school.
Honestly I dont find it representative of the Gun culture
I also didnt like the way they introduced the women to firearms. Shooting a 12 gauge is NOT the right way to start off a new shooter.

One thing I did find very positive was the segment where the woman meet the family which had been assualted by a maniac and the head of household defended the family with a firearm. That was great stuff in anyones book.

That makes sense, and since we didn't get to see everything BEFORE the editing, I suspect, being a Marine, and someone who seemed pretty responsible with guns, what we saw was exactly the kind of things that they knew would get ratings... that's the sucky part of television, but overall, I think the effect was good...and including that family was definitely a valuable player in the whole story.
I felt, maybe just as a woman, there was a level of "sympathy" for a guy raising his son alone... doing the best he knew how and all that crap..
would have been nice though, if there was a complete family.
