Now this story is a bit long.
Well last night I got pulled over! Here's a glimpse of the beginning, my neighbor sells drugs so I've been working with the sgt & Lt to get the scum nutts off the street. Last night I come out around 1930 or so to head to a get together and notice a car pull off at rapid speed as I get near my car. My g/f is doing laundry across the walk thingy so I hop in to take off and the car doubles back and starts acting weird so I call the ms's. Come to find out she's walking around outside in the dark with no phone and no weapon. Big no no of course! I head back to the house and look for her. when I find her I grill her about the phone thing and take off.:nunu:
Car is no longer there at this point.
I take off down to road to Powerline and Hillsboro, I get in the turning lane and the lights come on and BSO is all over my ass. We do the dance and come to find out I left all my creds in the fucking house :suicide1: now thinking I am so screwed. I'm carrying and my shit is at home. Then to make it worse in all the disfucktion I forget to tell'm I'm even armed. Now I'm telling myself I'm royally fucked!!!:suicide2:
We do the dance back up comes I receive no bullets in ass and we start talking and they allowed the ms's to bring my creds and told me that they thought I was Counter surveilling them. I told them the whole deal with my neighbor and the sgt and they did the courtesy thing and let me go yadda yadda.
Boy I tell ya! I figured I was so fucked at that point. After the dance we talked about my job and shot the shit as they ran my creds and yelled at me for not having my shit with me. Come to find out they know a few of my buddies.
Just figured I'd share that with ya'll. That was my one dumb moment of a fucking lifetime. I could of ended up in jail for a damn felony and all kinds of bs. Afterwards I got a royal ass chewing :shout::cussing:from a friend with FLPD, about making sure my shit is right before I leave the house.
Now I feel like a douche and await the wrath I face here for doing that stupid shit. :flush:
It always pays to be courteous to officers. Especially if you are in a lose/lose situation as you were last night. Glad to hear it all worked out for you. It pays to know people also. You live and learn. I have forgot my creds before when I noticed I pull my firearm off, unload it including the mags and store it in the glove box. Fortunately I haven't had to deal with any LEO when I have these stupid moments. I don't think you will get much gripe on this forum. I am sure many have done it before and if not, they will have there day.
Glad it all worked out in the long run for you.

I didn't notice I didn't have my creds until they asked for it. I'm happy as hell it worked out in my favor as well. Thanks for the kind gesture thingy. Hopefully you never have to face them without your creds it blows horribly.
I guess we all have our moments at some point in time
I hope I never have to come to that day either. I only hope to be as lucky as you if my day ever comes. I usually notice because every morning I stop for my must have cup of coffee.

Well I wish you and everybody else on this forum the best in that regards. Hope you all never have to go through that shit. Oh and if you're a big guy like myself those cuffs are going to hurt like hell. The tac squad/ Narcs aren't all nice enough to put two cuffs on like the uniform guys are.

are you supposed to notify the officer that you are carrying?
what are you supposed to do in the situation?
Florida is a non-discretion state. It is however a courtesy to let them know you carry. If you get pulled over, hand them over your CCW permit along with your drivers license. It can help you, but also let them know you are an upstanding individual.
However, If they ask you if you have any weapons you must disclose it to them.

Chris is right by my view as well. At the stop the female officer tried to stress to me that we are required by law to notify them that we are carrying for valid reasons of course. With my knowledge I knew that was an inaccurate statement, but found myself at there mercy so I didn't try to push my luck by challenging there competence on the subject.
Bottom line if stopped do yourself a favor and hand over all of your license, CCW including which notifies them that you're carrying. More than likely they'll still ask you just to be sure and be a little lenient on you.
you got lucky.. Plaxico... :bolt:

are you required to hand over your firearm?
what if they ask you for it?
Look at it this way. Do you really want to get into a argument with an officer. Its always good karma to agree and work with an officer. Think of all the shit they deal with all day. If you are easy with them they will work and be courteous with you.
There are technicalities where you don't have to hand over the firearm, but do you want to make the officers day harder?

Hey now! I know how to use a firearm and my license wasn't expired. It was home but not expired. I wonder which one is worse? Oh and I got no holes ine me to.:raspberry:
Oh, and I was damn lucky to say the least!

As Chris said, technically you are not required to hand over your firearm.
I look at it this way, I'm not doing anything wrong and I have my creds so they can't take/keep my firearm for any reason. So why not? They may just want to look at.
I had a friend get stopped and him and the officer got into a discussion about his glock. Trooper took his and gave it a once over cleared it and gave it back to him. No harm done!
It's always in your best interest to be courteous and cooperate, it'll normally work in your favor. Who knows there may be a time you actually do something wrong and that officer approaches you and let's you slide cause you're a stand up person and he/she knows from past dealings with you.

It is definitely your choice to not tell an officer you are carrying. If they do ask though, you must tell them. Then its not a matter of obliging them, its the law to disclose that info.

When I looked at the title of this thread, I thought this was going to be another one of those stories from a certain motorcycle forum, that usually ends up with an "innocent" rider who was minding his own business doing 140 mph on a city street, with no motorcycle endorsement on his d/l, with a non-valid tag, etc.
What a fresh change of pace!
LMAO Doug!! It is a nice change to read a post like this. Make sure to slow down on that Harley of yours no more speeding.

Happy I could be off a assistance, I guess!:jerkit: lol
They're always innocent when they get caught doing some shit they know they shouldn't be doing.
Secpro, you really need to see some of the posts that Doug and I referring to. Then you would understand what we are talking about. There are some real fools out there and then they put out there stories on the internet looking for sympathy. The whole time you are reading their posts you are thinking to yourself, what an ass clown.
This is not the case with your story.
Make sure to slow down on that Harley of yours no more speeding.
slow down Doug... :nunu:

Damn! People are really that freaking stupid? I guess it's job security for the good guys! That may explain why I don't do alot of internet forums and such, just because of idiots like that. Kinda of happy I'm not in that boat with those fuck nutts.
You are definitely not in that boat. It is good sometimes to read those posts for a good laugh though.
Umm, Cris, I never bothered to ask but what would you recommend as a passenger? What the hell did all of you in the van do? That had the makings of an America's Funniest Videos to see the reaction of that officer if you all told.

I spoke to Cris and he gave a very responsible answer.
I'll paint the scenario. Assume that all of your friends have CCW creds and all carry. You are packed in a van with 6 other people all packing heat and you get pulled over by a single officer for speeding. The question begs, do you ALL voluntarily state that you are carrying firearms? I would have to say that it might be more prudent if I were the driver to not volunteer that information unless asked or if I knew that a gun were in the same location as the vehicle registration info. Cris basically said that he would follow the driver's lead on that scenario.
I got a buddy on FSN that was going home from a Magpul class and he was pulled over for having his driving lights on and being too bright. The car was loaded with NFA items (SBR's and suppressors). Well, he did volunteer that he was armed and also had firearms in the vehicle. In a nutshell, he was held for nearly 3 hours as they checked out the legality of his NFA items which entailed having a local BATFE officer come out there. The officer was going to give him a ticket but he was witnessed sweeping a few people with my friend's handgun using it as a pointer. The ticket was never issued when he threatened to file a complaint against that officer.

ahhh the OMI story...lol
Me responsible. Never. LOL!!!
Yeah, in that case I would have to say follow what the driver does, after all they are the one who was pulled over. However we did all have some good laughs while the officer went back to his patrol car to write the ticket. Basically it came to wondering what the officers expression would be if he asked if there were any weapons in the vehicle. With only 5 passengers in a minivan there were more than 5 weapons in that vehicle. We could only imagine if he asked how fast back up would have been on site in that situation.
Even after telling that we were a dealer for the FHP he didn't even flinch. Its no mystery that FHP is the lowest paid in all of Florida. This officer definitely showed it, with the worlds fastest speeding ticket I have ever seen. I shit you not, we were pulled over for about 2 minutes and back on our way.
Hey, we were speeding breaking the law, we got nabbed and received a ticket. Oh well, life goes on. We all made it to the shot show in one piece and had a good time.
